False Prophets

Find out more at 1 John 4:1-6, Matthew 7:15-20 and 2 Peter 2:1-22

What is your first thought when you think about false prophets? Maybe a historical character mentioned in the bible? Or how about a preacher on You Tube? Well scary as it may seem, they are much closer than you think. There are some great people who tell the truth and speak the word of God but there are equally, if not more, false prophets who will try to persuade you by using false teaching in sermons, music or books.

There are also those who try to twist the scripture to suit their own lives. If you’re unsure, cross reference what they are saying with your Holy Bible which is the only truth you need.

If you're trying to find the answer to questions relating to your bible study, by all means research but don't make the opinions you find more important than the Word of God because at the end of the day, God has the final say and it's a conversation you should be having with Him. Researching to find out meanings and checking other peoples opinions is a good way of learning but you can't beat reading he word yourself. Remember, that the more opinions you seek, the more information you have to process and ultimately, that answer you've been seeking with elude you. Pray about what's troubling you and trust God to have the final say and guide you in your journey.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world I John 4:1 NKJV

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 Peter 2:1
